The Breede River is one of the largest, most navigable rivers in South Africa. You are able to cruise for about 30 km towards the river mouth and about 10 km upstream with the Houseboats.

The boat is best suited for 2 persons, but it can accommodate 4 persons with Maximum a family of 5 (3 Adults and 2 children under 12). All of the Malagas Hotel Facilities can be used.

Area Info

The Breede is renowned as the best estuary fishing location in the country.

Tidal action reaches 55km upstream and kabeljou, grunter, leervis, steenbra and many other sought-after sea fish are caught here.

It is also knows as a bird-watching paradise and over 200 species have been recorded.

The river naturally attracts fish-eating birds like the majestic fish eagle, osprey, fishing owl and kingfisher.

The whole area is home to an amazing wealth of birdlife.

It is also an important breeding ground for rare birds and home to the Blue Crane, South Africa’s national bird.

Directions

  • From Cape Town drive on N2 towards Swellendam. Last town you will pass is Riviersonderend on the N2.
  • Turn right at MALGAS/INFANTA sign 6 km before Swellendam. Travel ± 38 km on the gravel road.
  • After ± 38 km you must turn left at MALAGAS (MALAGAS GUEST HOUSE) sign.
  • Travel ± 1.5 km you will see the road starts winding down to the river.
  • Turn left to Malagas Hotel – numerous white buildings with green roofs and flags in front, situated on the banks of the river.

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
  • If cancelling 31 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the booking total.
  • If cancelling 365 days before arrival, forfeit 10% of the booking total.

SECURITY DEPOSIT (Please note this payment must not be paid prior to arrival and can ONLY be done by Credit Card)
The Security Deposit in case of loss or damages is R10 000.00 per Houseboat.
Boat Fuel = Fuel/Oil mix - Contact us for the latest price per liter of Houseboat Fuel. The fuel tank holds 150 liters of fuel.
Fuel price subject to change without further notice.
Security Deposit: To be paid on arrival by an Authorization Only on a Credit Card (Block, can take up to 5 working days to release after departure). NOT payable by Debit Card, Cash or EFT.
R300 cleaning fee on departure.
No International EFT's allowed.
