Avani Lodge Private Nature Reserve is renowned for the tranquillity of our environment, and the abundance of fynbos species within the reserve. Guests will feel the natural inclination to enjoy the freedom to relax and enjoy our facilities and the great outdoors. Our eco-friendly, thatched, straw bale and cob rondawels, each with its own private wood-burning Hot Tub, offer a rustic and quirky space where guests can expect nothing less than soul-feeding tranquillity and peace.

Each unit accommodates two people only, except Parrastoel which can accommodate 2 – 6 people.

No babies or children due to the exposed Hot Tubs & wood-burning stoves.
Absolutely no day visitors.

Please note: Avani is 100% self-catering regarding consumables. Guests bring their own coffee, tea, salt & pepper, ice, fire starters & matches, body soap, shampoo etc.

We provide a braai grid (burned clean, if you like it shiny, please bring your own), kettle, cutlery, crockery, linen, towels, fridge, cooker plate and ample wood for the hot tubs and barbeque.

Area Info

The Botriver area is one of those hidden gems waiting to be discovered by the fortunate.

Once you exit the N2, you could easily imagine yourself being in another part of the world.

It is farmy and fabulous with hidden game farms, award-winning wine and olive farms, fine dining restaurants, craft beer served with food made from grass-fed beef and acorn-fed pork.

You will be astounded by the abundance of local produce.

  • Directions from Cape Town International Airport Matroosfontein, Cape Town, 7490.:
  • Get on Settlers Way/N2 in Crossroads from Airport Ring Rd and Borcherds Quarry Rd/M22
  • 7 min (3.2 km).
  • Follow N2 to Swartrivier Rd
  • 57 min (76.1 km).
  • Continue on Swartrivier Rd which becomes a gravel road just past Gabrielskloof. The gravel road is good for any type of car. Turn left at the Avani / Paardenkloof sign, you will find the gates on your left hand side.
  • 10 min (7.5 km).

  • If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
  • If cancelling 15 days before arrival, forfeit 0% of the deposit.

100% Self-catering re consumables.
Bring all basics e.g. Firelighters, matches, Coffee, salt, body soap etc.
Each unit and kitchenette is equipped with everything guests may need including a cooker and fridge.
Each unit has a hot tub and braai with a grid. Wood provided.

Children are only welcome in the two family units (Parrastoel & Truffle)

All other units can only accommodate two people
No pets due to territorial resident dogs.
Except for Truffle, we regret that the property is not wheelchair-friendly due to steps and the rough terrain.
