Adjacent to the Mapungubwe National Park & UNESCO World Heritage site, and Kaoxa Rock Art Shelter, Mopane Bush Lodge is situated in Mapesu Private Game Reserve, within rolling landscapes of Mopane veld on the 7200 hectares.
It lies in the summer rainfall region of Southern Africa with typical hot African summers and warm winters.
This reserve, criss-crossed with dry watercourses, low hills and rocky outcrops, is home to an wide array of wildlife and an impressive diversity of indigenous and endemic botanical life with especially high amount of bird species.
Directions
- Travel on the N1 North highway to Polokwane, through four tolls, totalling about R150.00.
- We suggest the best place to stop for fuel and refreshment is The Star Stop The Ranch, 20km before Polokwane.
- At Polokwane, turn left at the second traffic lights and follow Nelson Mandela Drive around the town.
- At the seventh traffic light turn right at the sign R521 DENDRON.

- At the next traffic light turn left onto the R521 to Dendron road.
- Proceed along this road for 140km to Alldays.
- At the stop sign in Alldays turn right and proceed towards Pontdrif.
- Travel for 46km towards Pontdrif and turn right onto the R572 towards Mapungubwe & Musina.
- This is the second tarred road off to the right after leaving Alldays.
- MOPANE BUSH LODGE is 29km on the R572 on the right just past the cell phone mast.
- Turn into Mopane Bush Lodge, push button on pole to open gate and follow signs to the Lodge.
- Total distance from Johannesburg to Mopane Bush Lodge is about 525km, all tarred.
- Gravel road on farm is about 3km.
