Situated on 36,000 acres of African bushveld bordering the scenic banks of the Nbesi River, Moditlo Private Game Reserve offers a range of luxurious wildlife encounters and African safari options specially tailored for the discerning traveller.

Moditlo River Lodge sits at the heart of the Blue Canyon Conservancy, a stretch of protected land in close proximity to the world-renowned Greater Kruger National Park and is home to an astonishing array of fauna and flora. Named for the gentle beast of the bushveld, Moditlo means ‘place of the elephant’, and the quiet grace of this extraordinary creature echoes throughout the lodge and its surroundings.

Youngsters can partake in a special activity plan to increase their wildlife knowledge and are also allowed on game drives at the manager’s discretion. Area Info

Moditlo Private Game Reserve is set at the foot of the famous Drakensberg mountain range within the Blue Canyon Conservancy adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park. Moditlo Private Game Reserve is a popular retreat and the perfect bush-getaway. Moditlo is definitely one of South Africa's prime wildlife areas and the approximately 16500 hectares of pristine African bush is home to some of Africa's most sought after wildlife such as Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Rhinos, Cheetahs, Hippos and several hundreds of bird species typical to the Lowveld. The reserve is also home to a pack of Wild Dogs, which is the second rarest carnivore species in Africa with only an estimated 2000 remaining specimen in existence.

Blue Canyon Conservancy offers one of the richest bio-diversities one can find in the whole of Africa.
The vegetation is made up of two main Eco-zones, the Northern thornveld and Southern bush-willow woodlands.
The reserve's numerous lakes, perennial streams, dams, abundance of large trees along the river beds, the mountain view of the Drakensberg, rich and varied wildlife as well as unrivaled natural beauty make the Moditlo Game Reserve an unforgettable safari destination.

From Hoedspruit:
Take the R40 from Hoedspruit in the direction of Klaserie and Eastgate Airport. Moditlo Private Reserve entrance is 16km from Hoedspruit on the right hand side, (pass the Kapama main gate on the left). Follow Moditlo River Lodge signs once inside the Reserve.
From Eastgate Airport:
Turn right at the airport gate in the direction of Hoedspruit. When you get to the T-Junction just after the control gate turn left on the R40 in the direction of Klaserie. Moditlo Private Reserve main entrance is 10 km from the T-Junction on the right hand side. Follow Moditlo River Lodge signs once inside the Reserve.
From Orpen Gate:
When leaving Kruger, continue straight in the direction of Hoedspruit. After 40 km's you will get to a T-Junction, turn right in the direction of Phalaborwa / Klaserie. After 1 km turn right on the R40 in the direction of Phalaborwa / Hoedspruit. The main entrance to Moditlo Private Reserve is after 5 km to the left hand side. Follow Moditlo River Lodge signs once inside the Reserve.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
If cancelling 45 days before arrival, forfeit 75% of the booking total.
If cancelling 60 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the booking total.

Conditions

All reservations must be confirmed in writing.
A 50% deposit is required to secure a reservation.
Full payment is required 6 weeks before guests arrive at Moditlo River Lodge.
If the arrival date is less than 45 days from day of making the reservation then full payment is required.
In the event of early departure we may charge for the full original booking.
Please note that guests will be required to sign an Indemnity form on arrival at the lodge.
All extras to be settled directly with the lodge.
R310 Conservation Levy for 2025 bookings and R335 for 2026 bookings is not included. This is charged per person per night..
