Area Info
Kingfisher Creek Safari Lodge is located inside the Guernsey Private Nature reserve, next door to the world renowned Thornybush Game Reserve.
Whilst our reserve, has mainly plains game, we do have buffalo, Leopard & hyena in the reserve.
The lodge is in an excellent location for people wanting to visit the Kruger National Park or the Blyde River Canyon.
We can assist with booking a number of excursions from bush walks to Panorama tours to the Blyde Canyon.
The Blyde Canyon has many activities that attract the adventure seeking tourists to the people who prefer to keep their feet on the ground with a leisurely hike.
Packages can be arranged prior to arrival.
Directions
- FROM JOHANNESBURG/PRETORIA
- Take the N4 from Johannesburg/Pretoria.
- Turn left off the highway at Belfast (R540).
- Drive through Belfast following signs fo Dullstroom (R540) and on to Lydenburg.
- From Lydenburg, take the R36 to Ohrigstad.
- From here stay on the road going over the Abel Erasmus pass going through the Strijdom Tunnel.
- Stay on this road (approx 30km) until you come to the 'HOEDSPRUIT REPTILE CENTRE' or see the signs for 'ORPEN GATE/ WHITE RIVER (R531/ (R40)'
- Turn right here.
- Drive for approx 30km till you come to the sign for ORPEN where you will turn left.
- Drive for 2 km till you come to the sign for Guernsey (D2119) and turn left.
- Go through the security gate on to a dirt/sand road.
- Drive straight for approx 10km till you see the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve sign (You will pass Sunbirds Oasis, Waterbuck Lodge and Phelwana Lodge- The turn off for Guernsey is after Phelwana Lodge)
- Turn right & it will lead you to the Main 'Guernsey Private Nature Reserve' gate where you will sign in.
- Once through the gate, follow the signs for Kingfisher Creek. approx 7 minutes drive.

- The guest will be charged a prepayment of 30% of the total price after reservation.
- 70% is payable 30 days before arrival.
- 1 night stay is payable in full on booking.
- Cancellation Policy:
- Cancel over 60 days before arrival, full deposit less 15% is refundable.
- Cancel between 60 - 30 days, the deposit is non-refundable.
- Cancel within 30 days of arrival, full amount is non-refundable.
- We reserve the right to not refund card fees (transaction costs) in the case of any cancellation or situation where funds need to be reversed back to a credit card.
- The cardholder & ID/Passport must be present at check-in.
- The credit card used for the online payment must be present at check-in.

- Guernsey Private Nature Reserve charge a once off conservation fee of R165 per vehicle. This payment will be done on arrival at the main gate and is a card payment only (no cash) Please hand the paperwork to lodge reception on arrival.
