Area Info
*Lamberts Bay is named after Admiral Lambert of the British Navy who did a marine survey of the bay between 1826 and 1840
*In 1887 Mr Stephan bought the commercial buildings and built the hotel in 1888
*Lamberts Bay was used as a lay-up for British warships during the war of 1900-1902 and in 1901 the "Sybil" was wrecked opposite Steenbokfontein.
*The first crayfish factory was started by Mr Lindström in 1918, the price was 1/6 and 2/6 per hundred crayfish.
Directions
- DIRECTIONS FROM CAPE TOWN
- +/- 280km
- Located on the West Coast, +/- 280km north of Cape Town on the Namaqualand Wild Flower Route. Take the N7 from Cape Town as it is tarred all the way. Follow the N7 to Malmesbury and continue directly on this route by passing the towns of Moorreesburg, Piketberg and Citrusdal. About 57km from Citrusdal a turning to your right indicates Clanwilliam (just after the dam). Take this turn off and continue on the R364 to Lamberts bay (60 km). Turn right after the BP Garage in Lamberts Bay and follow the signage to the hotel.
- Alternatively, you can take the R27 along the coast as most of the road is tarred. (Please contact the hotel for further information)

- If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
