Description

The Fireside Cabin is a gorgeous log cabin that has solar and gas geysers. The property boasts a river that is visible from the deck and is within walking distance. You can enjoy wonderful picnics, fishing, paddling, and swimming to your heart’s content.

The cabin sleeps up to four in two well-appointed bedrooms. The first bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the second has twin single beds. There is a beautiful bathroom with a large shower.

The Cabin has a cosy open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with a fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, and the lovely dining area is ideal for enjoying those long, lazy dinners. The lounge area has a flat-screen Smart TV for rainy days, and Wi-Fi internet access is available.

Sit on the stunning deck with a braai going and sip sundowners as you enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Mountains, or watch the kids play in the large garden. There is also a fire pit to enjoy under the evening stars. This is a perfect holiday or weekend spot to really enjoy all that the Southern Drakensberg has to offer.

Area Info

Underberg is a small, charming farm town that is popular with tourists in the Umzimkulu River valley of KwaZulu-Natal.

It is situated at the foot of the Hlogoma Peak in the foothills of the southern Drakensberg, and boasts plenty of natural beauty.

Although relatively small, Underberg is surrounded by farms, so it’s always bustling with vehicles and locals stocking up on groceries and farm supplies.

The town features a few grocery stores and general dealers, 2 small malls, hardware suppliers, a butchery, art and craft stores, a few restaurants, quaint pubs, clothing stores and a petrol station.

Directions

  • From King Shaka International Airport:
  • This route has tolls.
  • Exit the airport, turn left onto Mdloti Street/M65 and continue to follow the M65 for 2.6 km;
  • Keep right at the fork, merge onto the N2 and proceed for 2.3 km;
  • Merge onto the N2 and proceed for 22 km.
  • Keep right to stay on the N2 and proceed for 19 m;
  • Keep right to stay on the N2 and proceed for 4.5 km;
  • Use the left 2 lanes to take Exit 165 to merge onto the N3 towards Pietermaritzburg/Johannesburg and proceed for 7.7 km.
  • Keep right to stay on the N3 and proceed for 82 km;
  • Take Exit 99 for the R617 towards Howick/Underberg and proceed for 450 m;
  • Turn left onto Boston Road/R617 and continue to follow the R617 for 112 km.
  • Turn left onto South Lane and proceed for 350 m.
  • Take a slight left onto Sangwana Road and proceed for 750 m;
  • Turn left onto Scotston Road and proceed for 600 m;
  • The Fireside Cabin will be on your right.
