- From the N2 between George and Sedgefield: Take the HOEKWIL turnoff, which leaves the N2. Follow this road and bypass Hoekwil village to continue for 7.2km to the farm gate. Having turned right off the tar, continue for 2.4km on gravel to reach the sign posted junction to the Farm Cottages and AfriCamps at Oakhurst.

- Check in: Between 14h00 and 17h00 on day of arrival. Please stop by reception to meet your hosts and collect your tea & coffee basket.
- Late arrival strictly by prior arrangement. For check-in after 17h00, please contact your host at the camp to make arrangements on +27 (0)64 384 1266. The farm gate closes at 17h00. Simply slide the gate manually to enter. Please close the gate before driving away and then proceed to your tent.
- Check out: Before 10h00 on day of departure.
- Long Stays: If you are staying four nights or more, you can request a complimentary cleaning service. Let your host know when works for you.

- We promise a sparkling clean tent, with fresh linen and towels, a clean fireplace and braai, fresh water in your hot tub, and a few essential amenities, ready on arrival. If you require any additional cleaning, a daily cleaning service is available at an additional cost - speak to your host to find out more.

- Firewood and firelighters are available to purchase at the camp. Pick up a few bags for the indoor fireplace, braai and outdoor wood-fired hot tub when checking in. Tip: On colder nights, the outdoor wood-fired hot tub needs more wood to reach the desired temperature. About 2-3 bags of wood will have you covered.

Cancellation Policy

- Arrival
- Check-in: Once the online booking is made you will receive a booking confirmation email with all the necessary information for your stay. The check-in takes place from 14h00 onwards on the day of arrival. Guests are kindly requested to inform the camp reception of their estimated time of arrival. Please phone the camp reception 30 minutes prior to arrival. This way you are ensured that the check-in can be arranged without delays. You will find the telephone number in the booking confirmation email.
- Check out: Before 10h00 on day of departure. Please note that we may charge a penalty fee of R250.00 for late departures.
- Bookings
- AfriCamps reserves the right, at all times – without a statement of reasons – to cancel a booking within 48 hours of making a booking.
- Accommodation
- All tents sleep a maximum of five people. The following items or services are not included in the price unless otherwise stated:

- Payments
- To secure your stay a 50% deposit is required. The balance of the booking amount must be paid in full to AfriCamps, at the latest, one month before arrival. In the event of a booking made within one month before arrival, the entire booking amount must be paid immediately. In the case of late or incomplete payment, AfriCamps will reserve the right to cancel the booking with immediate effect.
- Booking Alterations
- If, after confirmation of your booking, you would like to make amendments to your existing booking, you need to inform AfriCamps in writing of such a request. AfriCamps is not obliged to grant such requests. Extended, or amended dates will be subject to availability. Where a request is made for a shorter stay than originally booked, a reasonable cancellation fee may be charged (as more fully set out in the Cancellations clause below).
- Changes must be made 30 days prior to the original arrival date. Bookings cannot be moved from one camp to another.

- Cancellation policy

- (4) Once a guest has checked in and in the case of premature termination of the stay, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total booking will incur.
- General rules of behaviour
- In order to make the stay on the farm as pleasant as possible for all guests, we expect all the guests to stick to the general rules of behaviour and appearance based on common sense and basic etiquette. Breaching these regulations can lead to removal from the farm without a refund of the rental sum or a part of it. It is possible that maintenance activities may take place during your stay on the grounds or at the accommodation(s) such activities will not entitle the customer to a refund. No day visitors are permitted on the property unless prior arrangements have been made and approved by AfriCamps.
- Noise and music policies
- No music or excessive noise is allowed at any of our camps unless you have booked the entire property to host a function. Please consider your fellow guests and quiet down completely at 22h00. The enjoyment of nature and tranquility is our first priority. Please notify us if fellow guests are not adhering to our no-noise policy.
- Force majeure (circumstances beyond the reasonable control of AfriCamps)
- AfriCamps and the corresponding farm cannot be held responsible for not fulfilling its obligations due to unforeseen circumstances, such as but not limited to bankruptcy, natural disasters, unforeseen termination of contracts by one of our accommodation suppliers, acts of terrorism, or serious threats of terrorist attacks, sabotage or piracy, strike or boycott, acts of governments or any other acts of authority whether lawful or unlawful, blockade, siege or sanctions, accidents, fires, explosions, plagues or any event of a similar nature. AfriCamps cannot guarantee the availability of electricity in the event of unexpected power outages or scheduled load shedding.
- Indemnity and Liability
- AfriCamps and the corresponding farm accept no liability for and will be exempt from liability in respect of, any: theft, loss, damage, injury, accident, or inconvenience to any person and or his/her luggage and/or personal property, whenever the same shall arise from, or be occasioned by the negligence of due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of AfriCamps and the corresponding farm, and or staff, or any other person directly or indirectly in the employ of AfriCamps or the corresponding farm, of whatever nature, during or as a result of a stay on one of our affiliated farms, falling into defect or putting out of action of technical equipment and loss or closure of supplies on the farm.
- The guests and those who accompany him or her, are jointly and severally responsible for all loss and/or damage that arises, for AfriCamps, the farm in question and/or any third party as a direct or an indirect consequence of their stay, irrespective of whether this was caused through actions or omission by themselves or by third parties, who are at the farm through their making, as well as of all damage which is caused by any animal and/or matters which they have under their responsibility. Please note that AfriCamps may charge an additional (cleaning) cost of R250.00 for cleaning if you leave your tent in an improper condition.
- Complaints
- Despite all the care of AfriCamps and the affiliated farms, it may occur that you have a complaint. You would need to take up this complaint with the camp owner immediately, in order to allow us to solve the matter as soon as possible. Should the complaint not be settled to your satisfaction, then you have the option, up to seven days after departure from the farm to lodge the complaint in writing by email to AfriCamps, at [email protected].
- Assumption of risks
- Remember that you will be staying on a working farm which often includes and host livestock and/or wild animals as well as potentially dangerous farm equipment amongst other hazards. Also, you must be aware that some of the camp equipment (such as the wood stove or hot tub) may be dangerous if misused. Whilst we and your host farmers take great care to keep you safe, accidents can happen and neither we nor the farm is responsible for such accidents (to the greatest extent permitted by law). It is your responsibility to supervise any children. If you notice that any equipment looks faulty and/or unsafe you must inform the host farmer as soon as possible.
- General
- Your contract partner is AfriCamps, regardless if you may have made your booking through a sub-contractor third party. These general terms and conditions are applicable to all reservations, directly or indirectly made with AfriCamps. AfriCamps will not be bound to any inadvertent or obvious errors in the prices published on websites and hereby undertakes to inform its clients as soon as possible of any errors via e-mail and to correct any errors as soon as possible thereafter on the website. Although reasonable care has been taken in rendering the most satisfactory service, AfriCamps can however not be held responsible for any loss or damage suffered as a result of the customer’s use of any information contained on the website or from accessing any other material displayed on other sub-contractors / third parties that are inaccurate of that has not been updated at the time of visit.
- Assumption of Risks
- Please be aware that you will be staying on a working farm, which may include livestock, wild animals, and potentially dangerous farm equipment, among other hazards. Additionally, some of our camps are located on game reserves where wild animals roam freely. While these experiences offer a unique connection to nature, they also carry inherent risks which may include animals attacking you if you fail to take the necessary precautions. Guests accept full responsibility for their own safety and that of any children in their care while at the camp.
- Certain camp equipment—such as wood stoves, fire pits, and hot tubs—may pose risks if misused or if used in a reckless manner (i.e. you might be burned if you don’t exercise the necessary precautions). While we and your host farmers take great care to ensure your safety, accidents may occur. To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor the host farmers accept liability for any such accident/incident that may occur due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control. It is your responsibility to supervise children at all times. If you become aware of any equipment that appears faulty or unsafe, you must inform the host farmer thereof immediately.
