Thaba Khaya Lodge means 'house on a rock”, which is an accurate description as the lodge sits on top of a granite outcrop. The elevated bar and pool deck offer breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, as well as a watering hole where animals often come to drink. Area Info

Founded on a farm in 1924, Brits is situated in the Bojanala region of the North West and is a large town in a fertile area of which the soils are irrigated by Hartbeespoort Dam. Brits are located in the middle of a successful grain-producing area as well as it plays an important role in the South African mining industry.

Approximately 94% of South Africa’s platinum comes from Brits and Rustenburg, as well as there is a large vanadium mine in the area. Do not let the idea of the mines concern visitors, the town is beautifully surrounded by citrus groves filling the air with their glorious scent.

Directions

  • Start at Lanseria International Airport located on Airport Rd in Lanseria, with the address 1748.
  • Follow Ashenti Rd for approximately 1.5 km towards Pelindaba Rd/R512. This should take about 2 minutes.
  • Head northwest on Airport Rd towards Ashenti Rd, covering a distance of 7 meters.
  • Take a left onto Ashenti Rd and continue for 1.5 km.
  • Proceed onto R512 and R511 towards North West, which should take approximately 1 hour and 2 minutes, covering a distance of 68.5 km.
  • Use the right two lanes to make a right turn onto Pelindaba Rd/R512 and drive for 17.4 km.
  • Take a left turn onto R512 and continue for 7.4 km.
  • Stay on R512 by continuing straight for 2.2 km, and then turn right to remain on R512 for 8.9 km.
  • Take the ramp to R512, covering a distance of 450 meters.
  • Turn right onto R512 and drive for 8.0 km.
  • Continue onto Rutgers St for 1.0 km.
  • Slightly veer right onto Harrington St and continue for 850 meters.
  • Continue onto Van Deventer St for 180 meters.
  • Turn left onto Hendrik Verwoerd Ave/R511 and drive for 22.1 km.
  • Finally, drive to your destination, Thaba Khaya, for approximately 21 minutes, covering a distance of 9.4 km.
  • For the last leg of the journey, turn right and drive for 2.4 km.
  • Then, make a right turn and travel for 90 meters.
  • Take a left turn and continue for 400 meters.
  • Make a right turn and drive for 650 meters.
  • Take a left turn and cover a distance of 220 meters.
  • Make another left turn and proceed for 1.9 km.
  • Finally, turn right and drive for 450 meters.
  • Make a right turn and continue for 2.7 km.
  • Take a left turn and travel for 400 meters.
  • Finally, make a right turn and drive for 110 meters to reach your destination, Thaba Khaya in Brits.
